Those planning to jet off on a winter holiday are being advised to double-check their life insurance policy will be valid just in case the worst should happen.
It is estimated that around 900,000 people will be going on a skiing holiday during the current season but many holidaymakers fail to understand the risks of such activities.
"It is so important that holidaymakers check their insurance cover to make sure they have the cover they need, before they travel," said Garry Skelton, marketing director at Legal & General Insurance.
He added: "Just a few moments to check what is covered and what is not could identify gaps in your cover, as it is not only the cost but the actual cover that can vary dont make assumptions."
Legal & General is also urging travellers to not only ensure their life insurance is up-to-date but also to check that their holiday insurance will cover the value of luggage (including skis) and any potential hospital bills if they end up in a collision on the slopes.
