Anyone planning to hit the slopes this year is being urged to make sure they have adequate life insurance in place before jetting off.
Winter sports and other adventurous holidays can result in accidents for those not use to such pursuits with nearly 50 per cent of first-timers requiring some form of hospital treatment.
All travellers are encouraged to make sure their have holiday insurance in place to cover any loss of belongings or a cancelled trip. People holidaying in Europe can take advantage of the EHIC (which has replaced the E111 form) which offers free emergency medical care under the European reciprocal treatment agreement.
However, many people forget to ensure they have some form of medical or life insurance in place just in case the worst does happen. Such a policy would ensure that loved ones would have their immediate financial needs meet.
There are a number of policies that will cover the more adventurous traveller and consumers are being advised to shop around and double-check the small print, especially if they plan more unusual pursuits such as bungee jumping, before purchasing any insurance policy.
