Guide improves life insurance claim process

Date: Tue, 22 Nov 2005

A new guide could help clarify the process for those claiming against life insurance policies.

Scottish Provident are hopeful the guide to claiming on life insurance will enable consumers to better understand the system and make more informed choices.

Traditionally the process of submitting a claim can be complicated and take a considerable amount of time. However, the new guide provides information on various types of claims as well as how to ensure that claims are dealt with fairly and efficiently.

The head of life and health insurance at Scottish Provident Sue Wilkinson hopes that the guide will make the complicated process more transparent and allow insurance providers to offer customers a better level of service.

"Clearly people are already going through a difficult time when it comes to making a claim," said Ms Wilkinson.

"It's important that we do our best not to add to their worries. Our new guides clearly set out our claims process and anticipate questions our policyholders might have," she added.
