Father's Day pack offers advice on life insurance

Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2006

Fathers are being given a "Dad pack" to help them understand how that can provide a better future for their offspring.

The initiative is being partly-funded by the Department for Education and Skills and will involve the distribution of 10,000 copies at a total cost of £50,000.

Each pack, produced by Fathers Direct - the national information centre on fatherhood, aims to provide information on a wide range of parental issues including new responsibilities such as purchasing life insurance to ensure a long term financial future for their children.

Duncan Fisher, chief executive for Fathers Direct, said: "We are at last seeing proper information for modern dads, written in men's language, using contemporary images of men and covering the issues men are concerned with.

"We're glad public services like it and are providing it for fathers," he added.

The pack contains a number of posters and leaflets dealing with health issues, work balancing, relationships as well as information on legal rights and responsibilities.
