European insurance sector "overweight", say Deutsche Bank

Date: Thu, 08 Jan 04 Analysis

BRUSSELS, EU - According to an analyst at Deutsche Bank, the performance of the European insurance sector still justifies his 'overweight' rating.

Mark Cathcart said in a research note published this morning that the European insurance sector continued to experience sluggish share price performance in the fourth quarter of 2003, according to NewRatings.

However, Deutsche Bank said the sector may see an upturn in bond yields in the near term as it benefits considerably from its reduced.

The European life insurance stocks are likely to outperform the non-life insurance stocks within the sector in the near term, the analyst says.
