Dual homeowners are less concerned about security than their single neighbours, according to a new survey.
Research by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) revealed that those with shared ownership mortgages are less likely to consider the security of their household when looking for a new property.
A total of 140 chartered surveyor estate agents were asked to identify the three most important criteria specified by different social groups when considering a house purchase.
Although security was one of the main three priorities for single women, shared ownership mortgage borrowers without children view off-street parking as a more important factor when shopping for a new home.
Dual buyers also rated the local nightlife and community leisure facilities such as gyms, theatres or galleries as key to ensuring that a property presents an attractive proposition, although those with children rated good local schools as vital when planning to relocate.
