A new online service for mortgage advisors could help boost the market for cheap mortgages.
Friends Provident and Trigold are launching a joint venture that will enable mortgage advisors to source and submit mortgage applications online. It is hoped that the new system will improve processing times and reduce costs.
Advisors will also be able to search a range of other Friends Provident products such as term assurance and critical illness cover.
"This is another step forward for our market leading e-commerce initiatives which will make business both easier and quicker for Trigold's mortgage advisers and their clients," said Simon Clamp, managing director of UK sales and marketing at Friends Provident.
The chief executive officer at Trigold, Bill Safran added: "The sophistication and flexibility of the two systems will enable our users to access a wide range of protection products within the existing sales process and realise new income opportunities."
