The growing number of specialised Car Insurance providers could reduce premiums for many female Young Drivers.
Research from Confused.com reveals that the average female driver in the UK spends £434.53 per year on Car Insurance cover, compared to £676.78 paid by male drivers.
Generally female drivers are seen as lower risk by insurance providers and after make few and lower claims on their policies. However, a number of other factors also help to reduce Car Insurance costs including location and age.
The study revealed that female drivers in the north of Scotland pay the lowest Car Insurance, whilst older drivers aged over 60 have seen their premiums increased by£196.58 a 14 per cent increase in the first quarter of 2006.
However, Young Drivers are still being advised to make sure they shop around for the best deals and don't limit themselves to specialist insurance providers, especially given the competition within the industry.
"We've seen increasingly aggressive pricing policies, which encouraged the market to become more competitive," explained Debra Williams, the managing director of Confused.com.
She added: "This trend has been particularly acute in the last few months, as insurers have vied for new-registration insurance business and the subsequent growth in insurance for newly-purchased second-hand vehicles - great news for people who shop around for the best deal."
