Young Drivers 'not put off' by petrol cost

Thu, 08 Jun 2006

Drivers in the UK will not be put off from buying cars by the rising cost of fuel – not yet anyway.

Research conducted by esure found that on average, British motorists would wait until the price of petrol reached £1.83p a litre before they would consider seeking an alternative mode of transport.

Some 55 per cent said that they would stick with their cars no matter how expensive it became to fill up a tank.

One in three of those polled confessed that they didn't even shop around to find the best price on petrol in their area.

Young Drivers looking to buy a car may find the daily cost of running it daunting, but it should be remembered that shopping around when it comes to other costs such as insurance could decrease the overall cost significantly.
