It is hoped that the increasing number of targeted products in the UK insurance market will eventually lead to more competitive Car Insurance premiums.
In particular, the number of female-only insurance providers, such as Shelias' Wheels, Diva and Women on Wheels, could help to lower motoring costs for many UK women, according to insuresupermarket.com.
"They can only increase competition and reduce premiums for drivers," said Richard Mason, director of insuresupermarket.com.
"Typically, women only insurers are not necessarily the great value they claim to be and certainly not necessarily cheaper than mainstream insurers. However, in our research, Sheilas Wheels has proved to be nearly £100 cheaper."
However, Mr Mason added that drivers should ensure they get the best deal for their cover by shopping around and always obtain quotes from both specialist and non-specialist insurers.
