Improved road could be good for Car Insurance premiums

Tue, 10 Jan 2006

Plans to improve the M6 motorway between Manchester and Birmingham could help cut Car Insurance premiums for many motorists.

The Highways Agency is considering a second M6 toll scheme to help reduce congestion and lower accident rates in the region, reports BBC News.

The agency is examining two possible ways of adding a further toll by either widening the existing motorway or building a new toll road alongside the road between Knutsford and Cannock.

The next step for the plans includes further discussions with local councils, emergency services and other interested parties to discuss the benefits and disadvantages of both proposals.

It is hoped the increased road capacity could eventually mean safer driving conditions for many motorists and could lead to a reduction in annual Car Insurance premiums.
