Car Insurance assists victims of poor driving

Mon, 05 Dec 2005

Car Insurance cover could help protect good motorists from poor driving by other road users.

Insurance provider Virgin Money has announced that Rio Ferdinand is the UK's worst football driver in an attempt to encourage safe driving on the country's road network.

Mr Ferdinand has been banned from driving on four different occasions and has been found guilty of drink-driving and speeding – something which is likely to push his Car Insurance premiums sky-high.

However, careful drivers are also being forced to pay higher Car Insurance costs because of the growing number of motorists who break the law and cause extensive damage to other vehicles.

Jason Wyer-Smith of Virgin Money Car Insurance said: "We should all be driving safely but it’s not just footballers who pick up points and speeding fines."

Mr Wyer-Smith also urged motorists with bad driving histories not to hide such information from providers otherwise they could face hefty repair bills.

"Be honest. When you renew your policy or switch insurers make sure you tell them about your driving offences. Not disclosing a speeding fine could leave you with a big problem if you have an accident and have to make a claim," he added.
