Support Arsenal’s
Youth Development Programme – at no cost to you.
Funds raised by Arsenal fans purchasing policies from Arsenal Insurance
Services will contribute significantly to the Youth Development programme
headed by Liam Brady. Since 2001, when the Arsenal Academy in East
London opened, players from 9 to 16 years of age have been able to
develop their game within a first-class environment partly due to
contributions from the Club’s credit card and savings account
partners at no extra cost to supporters. Buying any policy from Arsenal
Insurance Services provided by Endsleigh is now another way for fans
to support this programme.
The running costs of the Academy are in excess of £200,000
per annum, with recent additional costs including £300,000
required for an artificial pitch and drainage improvements to bring
the pitches to an excellent standard. Funds have recently also contributed
to a state-of-the-art indoor centre at the Academy. We will continue
to use these funds to assist our Youth Development Programme.
Also for the first time, revenues generated will help benefit our ‘Arsenal
in
the Community’ initiatives by funding more Arsenal Soccer
Schools in more locations, both at home and abroad. We hope these
will enable children to enjoy their football, to learn more about
the game and to play with the right spirit and attitude.
A Background to Youth Development
Arsenal were among the first tier of English clubs to gain Academy
status, just before the 1998/99 season, and the Academy has produced
a steady stream of talent every year since. There are well over 50
Arsenal Academy graduates now playing professional football at league
level either in the UK or in Europe. We have also listed current
Arsenal first team players who are either recent Academy graduates
or are still in the Academy fold. Many of the players listed were
part of the FA Youth Cup winning sides of 2000 and 2001, or the Under-17s
and Under-19s Academy League championship-winning teams of 1999/2000
and 2000/01 respectively.
