What can I do online?
Can I get immediate cover?
Yes, providing you have given us all the information we have asked for during the quote.
We accept most credit or debit cards and if you choose to pay monthly we would need your direct debit details. This is subject to our normal terms and conditions. Credit card payments will incur a £2.50 transaction fee.
What type of cover do I need?
- If you are a home owner then you can purchase contents and buildings insurance.
- If you are renting your home then you can purchase contents insurance.
Contents insurance will cover the items you own in your home against theft and weather damage* whilst they are in your home.
Buildings insurance will cover the property including fixed sanitary ware, pipes, cables and fitted kitchens against theft and weather damage*
If you are looking to cover your items away from the home you will need to specify the item or amount of cover required on your contents insurance quote.
*if you have chosen accidental damage on your contents and buildings quotes you will also be covered for accidental damage claims.
How do I know how much cover I need?
- For your contents insurance you will need to add up all of the items in your home that you own making sure you don’t forget things like DVD’s and clothes. If you imagine that your house was tipped upside down, all of the items that are not permanently fixed to the walls would fall out and these need to be covered by your contents insurance. This total amount will need to be enough to replace all of your contents in the event of a total loss claim such as a fire.
- For your buildings insurance we will cover the rebuilding cost of your home up to the value of £400,000, if you think it would cost more than this to rebuild your home then you will need to tell us the cost to rebuild your property. Your mortgage company or a surveyors report will be able to provide you with this figure.
Do I need cover away from the home if I have travel insurance?
Travel insurance companies have different terms and conditions and their exclusions and limits may mean that the cover is not adequate. It is best to list the items you take out of your home and add up the cost to replace them if you were unlucky enough to lose them all.
You will also need to check the single item limits on your travel insurance policy as they are not always as high as home insurance limits.
Can I get insurance if I work from home?
We can provide contents insurance for the items you will be using for your business such as computers and printers*
We will not be able to provide insurance if you work from home and you have clients visiting your home unless you are a tutor teaching from home.
*limits apply please see your policy summary which will be provided at the end of your quotation.
