What is a Gadget?

Any device (electrical or otherwise) which carries out a function for the purpose of computing, communication or entertainment.   

What gadgets does Endsleigh insure within each cover section?

  • Laptops and accessories - Portable computer equipment other than i-pads and any associated equipment which the policyholder uses in conjunction with it.
  • iPads/Tablets -  i-pads and similar machines and any associated equipment which the policyholder uses in conjunction with it.
  • iPhones - Mobile phones which are capable accessing the internet.
  • Other mobile phones - Any mobile phone that is not an iPhone.
  • Portable gadgets -  Any hand held gadgets (excluding musical instruments) which are not computers or mobile phones and which are designed to be taken outside of the house : eg MP3 players, i-pods, digital cameras, videocameras, flashguns, camera lenses, tripods, camera memory cards, binoculars.
  • Non portable gadgets - Other electrical gadgets (excluding musical instruments) which are not designed to be taken outside the home: eg X-box, playstations etc. 

What does my Gadget Policy cover?

  • Theft or attempted theft.
  • Accidental Damage.
  • Damage arising from riot, civil commotion, strike, labour and political disturbances.
  • Malicious damage.
  • Accidental Loss.

What are the main exclusions of my Gadget insurance?

The first £50 of each and every claim will need to be covered by you. In the event of a loss claim you will need to pay the first £75 of the claim.

What excess will I need to pay if I make a claim?

You will need to pay the first £50 of each claim except for a loss claim where you will need to pay the first £75 of the claim.    

Whose gadgets can I insure under my Gadget Policy?

The insured person named on the policy schedule and owner of the gadget(s).

Can I insure second hand gadget(s)?

This insurance only covers gadget(s) purchased as new.  Second hand items are not eligible for cover.

What if I do not know the purchase price of my gadget as it was provided free as part of a contract, e.g. Mobile Phone?

If your gadget was provided to you as part of a contract, and you part paid or the cost of the gadget was free to you, you will be required to provide the current retail price of the gadget from the internet or high street retailer to be able to apply for the policy. Evidence of this may be required in the event of an incident.

What should I do if I replace one of my gadgets?

How do I make a claim?

In the event of a claim on a mobile phone:

Report a theft or loss to the police. You must also inform your Airtime Provider within 24 hours of the theft to enable them to place an immediate bar on your insured phone number to prevent misuse.

On all claims:

Report the claim to Endsleigh within 40 days of the incident, in one of the following ways;

Do I need a receipt to evidence the value of my gadgets?

In the event of loss or damage to a gadget acceptable evidence of value will normally be in the form of the original purchase receipt and a written explanation should accompany any alternative evidence if the original purchase receipt is not provided.  Failure to produce adequate evidence of value may affect Your ability to claim for loss or damage to the item(s).
